"Go Out of Your Own Manner" is a vocal by Irish gaelic rock band U2. It is the fourth track on their fourteenth studio album, Songs of Feel, and was released as the anthology's second single on 8 December 2017.

Writing and recording [edit]

"Get Out of Your Own Way" is lyrically addressed to the daughters of lead vocalizer Bono,[1] with words of encouragement to not be i's own worst enemy.[2] [3] The lyrics too reference the United states political crisis, mentioning Liberty receiving a "smack in the mouth".[ane] Musically, the song was compared to the band's 2000 unmarried "Beautiful 24-hour interval".[four] Seguing between the stop of "Become Out of Your Ain Way" and the commencement of the album's next runway, "American Soul", is a spoken word segment by rapper Kendrick Lamar; playing what Bono called a "cracked preacher", Lamar gives an ironic take on the Beatitudes.[ane] [5]

Release and promotion [edit]

On one November 2017, the band officially announced details of the album's release; every bit part of the announcement, "Get Out of Your Own Way" was one of two songs released on music streaming services. Those who pre-ordered the album received "instant grat downloads" of "Get Out of Your Own Way" and other songs.[6] U2 performed "Get Out of Your Own Fashion" on the 2 Dec 2017 episode of American comedy television receiver series Saturday Night Live.[vii]

"Get Out of Your Own Way" was released as the album'southward second single on 16 Jan 2018,[eight] with the vocal's music video post-obit two days afterward.[9] For the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, U2 pre-recorded the operation of "Go Out of Your Own Way" on a barge in front end of the Statue of Liberty.[10]
